The company IKOM d.d offers the service of installing and monthly readings of internal water meters. Internal water meters are installed in older buildings that have one main water meter, and the distribution of consumption is based on the number of occupants in each apartment. We provide high-quality and accurate water meters with a large measuring range, so there will be no difference between the sum of internal and main water meters during billing. The water meters are read remotely – our employees do not enter the apartments.
Our obligation after installation is to monthly read the water meters, process the data, and deliver them to the Waterworks. Based on the provided data, the Waterworks sends a bill to each owner of an internal water meter according to the recorded monthly consumption.
The installation of internal water meters enables co-owners to pay for the actual water consumption, not based on the number of household members. The purpose of installing internal water meters is to encourage water savings, promote rational water consumption, and discourage the underreporting of the actual number of household members in each apartment.
The representative of the residents receives monthly reports on consumption, facilitating easier control of actual water consumption in each apartment. The representative is encouraged to publicly or individually provide this report to the residents to ensure everyone is convinced that water consumption truly matches their real usage. Internal water meters ensure a fair distribution of water costs, where each resident pays for the exact amount of water consumed, meeting all metrological accuracy requirements with our range of products.
At the end of each month, the water meters are remotely read by IKOM employees and forwarded to the water distributor, who issues water bills based on our data. If you are in the Zagreb area, the water distributor in this case would be Vodoopskrba i odvodnja Zagreb.
All installed water meters come with a compact or integrated radio module, enabling remote meter reading. The radio module transmits water consumption data, and IKOM employees perform readings using remote reading equipment (walk/drive-by or via concentrators).
The advantages of using water meters for remote reading compared to regular water meters are that residents don't have to worry about when to read their own water meter or forward their water consumption to the representative of the residents. Instead, after the installation of the water meters, they are remotely read by IKOM employees at the end of each month.
With this approach, you can install a water meter, completely forget about it, and pay for exactly the amount of water you consumed that month.
Co-owners are required to conclude a co-ownership agreement, which must be approved by owners holding at least 51% ownership share in the building. The co-ownership agreement regulates relationships related to the distribution of consumed water based on readings from internal water meters installed in separate units (apartments, commercial spaces). Users with legal entities for the installation of water meters enter into a contract for the installation and maintenance of water meters and related equipment for remote reading. They also enter into a contract with the authorized meter reader, IKOM, for the distribution of water based on readings from the main and internal water meters.
The authorized distributor for water distribution (IKOM) reads the main water meter and other internal water meters, conducts the distribution of water consumption, and provides the data to the water distributor. Based on the remote reading data, the water distributor automatically generates water bills for individual residents.
The representative of co-owners or the authorized water distributor must provide the supplier with:
The distribution of water consumption occurs in such a way that all residents with internal water meters receive a bill for their exact monthly consumption, while the remaining residents receive a bill based on the reported number of occupants in the apartment.
Therefore, residents with internal water meters pay exactly for what they have consumed.
Client John Johnson had a consumption of 12 m3 on 31.10.2019. and 18 m3 on 30.11.2019., which means his total consumption this month is 6 m3. Considering that the sum of total consumption from internal water meters is 18m3, and the consumption of the main water meter is 53 m3, then the remaining 35 m3 is distributed among the 5 members registered in the building. Since there are 5 more members in the building, it means that each member pays a total of 7 m3.
When a building council shows interest in installing our internal water meters, the representative of the co-owners contacts our Department for the installation of internal water meters. After that, a technical inspection of the building is carried out by our experienced cooperators - plumbers. Also, in consultation with our technical staff, it is determined how many water meters need to be installed in the building.
Afterward, a complete offer is prepared for the service installation price, the water meter price, and the monthly price for data delivery to the water distributor.

"Vodovod i Odvodnja d.o.o." Šibenik supplies water to over 45,000 metering points, including the islands of the Šibenik archipelago. Monthly meter readings and monitoring of the water supply network on these islands, miles away from the mainland, have proven to be particularly challenging. IKOM has installed a solution for its long-time client by establishing a fixed network on the two largest islands, Zlarin and Kaprije. With the communication infrastructure set up on the islands, water utility administrators now have daily meter readings at their fingertips, just a few clicks away.

The Utility Company "Vodovod i kanalizacija d.o.o." Rijeka is one of the largest distributors of drinking water in the Republic of Croatia. It supplies approximately 200,000 residents, with an annual water delivery exceeding 14,150,000 m3. The public water supply network spans over 1,000 km in length, with over 45,000 metering points. To ensure the smooth functioning of such a large system, meticulous planning of all factors influencing quality maintenance and network management is required, which "Vodovod i kanalizacija" has successfully achieved.
By establishing collaboration with "Vodovod i kanalizacija" Rijeka, IKOM d.d. aimed to address all situations and problems hindering the partner from achieving desired results.

HEP Elektra d.o.o. is the national distributor of electrical energy for the Republic of Croatia. Within the supply network, there are numerous transformer stations that are remotely connected to central units, and the presence of personnel is only required in cases of local supervision, interventions, repairs, and similar situations. In the event of emergencies in the water supply infrastructure, the response time was quite long, leading to operational problems and financial losses. IKOM d.d. installed Data loggers at 25 locations in the city of Zagreb for the client, enabling alarm notifications and continuous insight into daily and nightly flows and the consumption of measuring points.
